CVE-2026-18679Hinoki check available

Proxy takeover via unverified TLS bootstrap

Published Aug 12, 2026 · Updated Aug 12, 2026

Improper certificate validation in affected Kong Mesh releases allows man-in-the-middle attackers to take over the data plane proxy. The kuma-dp remote bootstrap client sets InsecureSkipVerify when no CA certificate is supplied and sends the dataplane token to the unverified peer. Universal-mode kuma-dp must target an HTTPS control plane without --ca-cert-file or KUMA_CONTROL_PLANE_CA_CERT; standard Kubernetes installs are not affected.
