CVE-2026-18656

Code execution via project-local executable precedence

Published Aug 4, 2026 · Updated Aug 4, 2026

Uncontrolled search path handling in Amazon Web Services Kiro IDE 1.0.0 through 1.0.212 allows attackers to execute code on Windows. When a local user opens a crafted project, the IDE resolves a planted executable in that directory before the system PATH and bypasses workspace trust protections. Execution requires user interaction and is confined to the local user's privileges, but the planted program can read, alter, or delete data available to that account.
