Authenticated root command execution via unsanitized module parameter
Published Aug 3, 2026 · Updated Aug 3, 2026
Command injection in GL.iNet Beryl AX firmware 4.4.0 through 4.4.5 allows remote authenticated users to execute commands as root. The logread.get_system_log RPC method concatenates the untrusted module parameter into a shell command passed to io.popen without validation. Valid router credentials and network access to the RPC endpoint are required; injected commands run with root privileges and their output is returned.
