CVE-2026-18587Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Root command execution via poisoned imported password

Published Aug 3, 2026 · Updated Aug 3, 2026

OS command injection in Wavlink WL-NU516U1 708c073-mt7628 allows remote attackers to execute commands as root through a crafted configuration import. The import handler decrypts an uploaded archive with a hardcoded key, copies its settings into /etc/config, and reboots; adm.cgi then inserts the stored Password value into an sprintf-built system() command without neutralizing shell substitution. Direct upload requires a valid management session, while a remote unauthenticated path depends on CSRF and user interaction; successful exploitation persists the injected command in flash and runs it at boot with root privileges.
