CVE-2026-18487Network attack vector

Phishing via colon-bearing URL userinfo host spoofing

Published Aug 6, 2026 · Updated Aug 6, 2026

URL spoofing in GNOME Web allows remote attackers to display a trusted host while loading an attacker-controlled site. ephy_uri_get_decoded_host() treats colon-bearing URL userinfo as the display host instead of using the parsed destination host. Exploitation requires a user to open a crafted link and enables convincing phishing through false origin indicators, without reported service interruption.
