Agent-mediated command execution via shell interpolation
Published Aug 20, 2026 · Updated Aug 20, 2026
Command injection in Neo.mjs before 88c77fc4 allows attackers to execute arbitrary OS commands via crafted absolutePath values. In ai/mcp/server/file-system/services/FileSystemService.mjs, the checkSyntax() and runPlaywrightTest() methods concatenate absolutePath into shell command strings for node --check and npx playwright test instead of passing it as a separate argv element. Reachability requires an AI agent or other caller to invoke those MCP tools with attacker-influenced input; execution then occurs with the host process's privileges rather than inside a jailed subprocess.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
