Administrator-triggered code execution via unchecked archive paths
Published Aug 10, 2026 · Updated Aug 10, 2026
Path traversal in the OpenCart 4.2.0.0 extension installer allows remote authenticated users to write files outside the extraction directory. The installer uses each uploaded .ocmod.zip entry name as a filesystem path without checking that its resolved destination remains under the extraction root. Administrator access and installation of a crafted extension are required; placing a PHP web shell in the webroot grants code execution with the OpenCart process's privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
