CVE-2026-18386Network attack vector

Administrator-level arbitrary file read via path traversal

Published Sep 10, 2026 · Updated Sep 10, 2026

Path traversal in WP BackItUp Community Edition 2.1.0 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to read arbitrary server files. The download handler accepts the backup_file parameter as a filesystem path and applies basename() only when the requested path does not exist, leaving existing traversed paths unchanged. Administrator-level WordPress access is required, and exploitation discloses files readable by the web-server process.
