Unauthenticated Administrator takeover via capability remapping
Published Aug 12, 2026 · Updated Aug 12, 2026
Privilege escalation in Pixelite Events Manager 7.1 through 7.4.0.1 allows remote attackers to take over Administrator accounts via REST requests. EM_Archetypes::map_meta_cap() empties WordPress capability requirements when a user ID matches an Events Manager post ID, overriding unrelated access decisions. A published event and the ID collision are required; default guest bookings let attackers advance the user counter until the IDs match.
