Code execution via TIF preallocation overflow
Published Aug 20, 2026 · Updated Aug 21, 2026
Integer overflow in TIF parsing in GIMP 3.2.2 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a crafted TIF file. The vulnerable TIF parser uses image-supplied values in a buffer-size calculation without checking for wraparound, so the computed allocation can overflow before memory is reserved. Exploitation requires user interaction, such as opening a malicious image or visiting content that causes GIMP to parse it, and code runs in the current process context.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
