Code execution via TIF size overflow
Published Aug 20, 2026 · Updated Aug 21, 2026
Integer overflow in TIF parsing in GIMP GIMP 3.2.2 allows remote attackers to execute code via a crafted TIF file. The TIFF parser uses untrusted image values in buffer-size arithmetic without sufficient bounds checking, so the computed allocation size can wrap before memory is reserved for later processing. Exploitation requires user interaction, such as opening a malicious image or rendering attacker-supplied content, and any resulting code runs in the current GIMP process.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
