CVE-2026-18284

Root code execution via crash dump command injection

Published Aug 20, 2026 · Updated Aug 20, 2026

Command injection in the crash dump handler in Sony XAV-9500ES 3.02.00 allows local attackers to execute code as root via crafted input. During process crash-dump handling, the software passes a user-supplied string to a system call without proper validation, allowing injected shell metacharacters or appended commands to alter the invoked command. Exploitation requires prior low-privileged code execution on the device and results in full root-level compromise of the receiver software.
