CVE-2026-18171

Host directory writes via omitted grant access mode

Published Aug 12, 2026 · Updated Aug 12, 2026

Incorrect authorization in Docker Sandboxes 0.35.0 through 0.38.0 allows local users to write host directories mounted read-only. The runtime host-mount path marks only the in-guest container bind read-only while adding the virtio-fs host-edge grant to the policy-share allowlist without an access mode. Unprivileged code already running inside a sandbox can derive the shared-export alias and modify files in the operator-selected host directory, but no broader host access is reported.
