Authenticated code execution via unchecked Markdown filename
Published Feb 3, 2026 · Updated Feb 3, 2026
Path traversal in bolo-blog Bolo-Solo 2.6.0 through 2.6.4 allows remote authenticated users to write files via Markdown import filenames. BackupService.importFromMarkdown stores the uploaded file under its supplied filename without validating path components, extensions, or the resolved destination. Low-privileged access to the import endpoint is required; writing a FreeMarker template enables server-side command execution when the template is rendered.
