Unauthenticated SMTP service interruption via stack overflow
Published Aug 13, 2026 · Updated Aug 13, 2026
Stack-based buffer overflow in IBM operating system releases 7.3 through 7.6 allows remote attackers to interrupt SMTP via network requests. IBM has not disclosed the affected SMTP parser or the length-handling operation that overwrites the stack. No authentication or user interaction is required, and the documented consequence is limited to SMTP service interruption.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
