Unauthenticated database reads via unbound autocomplete columns
Published Aug 9, 2026 · Updated Aug 9, 2026
Information exposure in WP Data Access before 5.5.79 allows remote attackers to read arbitrary columns through an unauthenticated AJAX action. The wpda_autocomplete handler trusts attacker-selected target and lookup-label column names that its nonce does not bind to the form configuration. Exposure requires a public front-end insert form with an autocomplete lookup; a form bound to wp_users discloses password hashes or email addresses.
