Crash and heap disclosure via unchecked TXXX offset
Published Jun 16, 2026 · Updated Jun 16, 2026
Out-of-bounds read in tracker-extract-mp3 on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 through 10 allows local users to crash the extractor with a crafted MP3 file. The extract_txxx_tags function advances past a TXXX frame after calculating an unchecked offset, then underflows the remaining length passed to g_convert. Local access and user interaction are required; successful exploitation causes a SIGSEGV and can expose adjacent heap data.
