CVE-2026-17583

DNA-result tampering via unsigned output files

Published Aug 5, 2026 · Updated Aug 5, 2026

Missing integrity checks in Applied Biosystems genetic-analyzer software allow local users to alter DNA-result files before analysis. The affected releases emit .fsa and .hid outputs without verifiable digital signatures, so later edits are nearly undetectable. File access and circumvention of laboratory controls are required; successful tampering can change DNA data and produce inaccurate test outcomes.
