Host takeover via unauthorized hardware register writes
Published Aug 19, 2026 · Updated Aug 21, 2026
Incorrect authorization in IBM Power Systems Firmware allows local users with BMC/FSP service or root access to control the host. The BMC/FSP-to-host interface fails to prevent those privileged controller accounts from writing arbitrary data directly to hardware control registers. Reaching the flaw requires service-account or root control of the BMC/FSP and grants full control of the host and all hosted partitions.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
