Unauthenticated code execution via stack buffer overflow
Published Aug 19, 2026 · Updated Aug 20, 2026
Stack-based buffer overflow in IBM AIX 7.2 and 7.3 and PowerVM VIOS 4.1 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code. IBM identifies the affected locus only as the bos.mp64 fileset and has not disclosed which network-facing function copies attacker-controlled input beyond a stack buffer. No authentication or user interaction is required; successful exploitation executes code with the privileges of the reachable service.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
