Unauthenticated command execution via DHCP option injection
Published Aug 19, 2026 · Updated Aug 20, 2026
OS command injection in DHCP handling in IBM AIX 7.2 and 7.3 and PowerVM VIOS 4.1 allows remote attackers to execute commands. The DHCP option-processing path passes attacker-controlled option content containing shell metacharacters into an OS command without neutralizing those characters. Exploitation requires adjacent-network access to supply crafted DHCP options and can compromise system confidentiality, integrity, and availability without authentication.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
