Site configuration overwrite via missing capability check
Published Aug 16, 2026 · Updated Aug 16, 2026
Authorization bypass in Kubio AI Page Builder 2.8.5 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to overwrite site configuration. The kubio_restore_front_page AJAX action validates an editor nonce but performs no capability check, while window.kubioUtilsData exposes the nonce to block-editor users. Contributor-level access is sufficient to replace homepage options, menus, template parts, and Kubio global data without administrator approval.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
