Stored XSS via attribute-only shortcode URL escaping
Published Aug 16, 2026 · Updated Aug 16, 2026
Stored XSS in YeKen Snippet Shortcodes through 5.2.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript via shortcode attributes. The shortcode renderer places attacker-controlled custom parameter values into URL-bearing HTML attributes and applies esc_attr() without URL-scheme validation, allowing javascript: payloads into page output. Contributor-level access or higher is required to create or edit the content, and the payload executes in each visitor's browser.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
