CVE-2026-16724

Administrator-triggered VMI crash

Published Aug 19, 2026 · Updated Aug 20, 2026

Integer overflow in IBM Virtualization Management Interface before FW1110.31, FW1120.01, and FW1060.81 allows remote authenticated users to crash VMI. IBM attributes the flaw to CWE-190 in VMI but has not published the affected code path or the arithmetic operation that overflows on untrusted input. Exploitation requires adjacent management-network reachability and authenticated administrator-level access; repeated triggers can sustain the interface outage because VMI restarts automatically after each crash.
