Contributor-level stored XSS via unescaped icon attribute
Published Aug 1, 2026 · Updated Aug 1, 2026
Stored XSS in the Download Manager plugin 3.3.66 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts through an icon shortcode. The category shortcode passes the icon value into UI::img(), which emits it in image src or style markup without contextual escaping at render time. Contributor-level access is required, and the injected code runs whenever the affected page is viewed, enabling actions within the viewer's browser session.
