CVE-2026-1665Public exploit

Local command execution via unsanitized wget header

Published Jan 29, 2026 · Updated Jan 29, 2026

Command injection in nvm 0.40.0 through 0.40.3 allows local users to execute shell commands through a crafted NVM_AUTH_HEADER. The nvm_download() wget branch appends the header to an ARGS string without sanitization, then eval reparses it as shell syntax. Exploitation requires control of the victim's shell environment and a download-triggering nvm command on a system where wget is selected.
