CVE-2026-16551Network attack vector

Service interruption via nonterminating packet-processing loop

Published Jul 22, 2026 · Updated Jul 22, 2026

Denial of service in OpenCanary 0.9.8's MongoDB module allows remote attackers to monopolize one CPU core with a single packet. The module does not validate the triggering packet before entering a loop whose exit condition cannot be reached, leaving the Twisted process spinning. The MongoDB module must be enabled and network-reachable; the reported consequence is CPU starvation of its core rather than data access or modification.
