Stored XSS via unescaped gallery shortcode attribute
Published Aug 6, 2026 · Updated Aug 6, 2026
Stored XSS in Philipp Bammes Slick Slider before 0.5.3 allows remote authenticated users to execute script via a gallery shortcode. The gallery renderer inserts the sl_asnavfor shortcode value into the single-quoted data-slick HTML attribute without escaping, so a quote terminates the attribute and injects an event handler. Contributor access and an existing media attachment are required, and the script runs only when another user views or previews the affected post.
