Contributor-to-Administrator script execution via unescaped Chapters URL
Published Aug 4, 2026 · Updated Aug 4, 2026
Stored XSS in Blubrry PowerPress before 11.16.11 allows remote authenticated users to execute script via a crafted Chapters URL. The Podcast Episode metabox stores the pci_chapters_url value verbatim in serialized enclosure metadata after applying only stripslashes, then inserts it unescaped into a link when the post is edited. Contributor access is sufficient, and execution requires an Editor or Administrator to open the affected post in the editor, where the script runs in the site's origin despite unfiltered_html being unavailable.
