Integer underflow in PostgreSQL ECPG before 18.6, 17.11, 16.15, 15.19, and 14.24 allows remote authenticated users to crash clients. ECPG bytea result handling underflows a length calculation when a server omits the mandatory prefix, causing an oversized overwrite with uncontrolled bytes. A database server administrator must return the malformed value to a connected ECPG client; the usual result is a SIGSEGV, while rare writes can corrupt client memory.
