CVE-2026-16225Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Client process crash via unbounded negotiated PDU length

Published Jul 19, 2026 · Updated Jul 19, 2026

Out-of-bounds write in Snap7 1.4.0 through 1.4.3 allows remote authenticated users to crash client processes via a malicious S7 peer. TSnap7Peer::NegotiatePDULength trusts the peer's uncapped length, and opWriteArea uses it to size a memcpy into a fixed 4096-byte payload. Exploitation requires control of the S7 peer or negotiation traffic and a subsequent sufficiently large WriteArea operation; the demonstrated result is client heap corruption and a process crash.
