CVE-2026-16208Network attack vector

Authenticated rate-limit bypass via non-atomic throttle updates

Published Jul 19, 2026 · Updated Jul 19, 2026

Race condition in django-tastypie 0.15.0 and 0.15.1 allows remote authenticated users to bypass API request throttling. CacheThrottle and CacheDBThrottle check and record access separately, then update a shared timestamp list with non-atomic get and set operations that lose concurrent updates. Exploitation requires a configured affected throttle, a shared cache backend, and concurrent requests, allowing the configured rate limit to be exceeded.
