Logic manipulation via inherited prototype write
Published Jul 18, 2026 · Updated Jul 18, 2026
Prototype pollution in CARTO @carto/api-client 0.5.29 allows remote authenticated users to modify application object prototypes via addFilter. The function treats an attacker-controlled column value of proto as an inherited object, then writes the unvalidated type key and filter data through filters[column] onto Object.prototype. Reachability requires a consuming application to pass untrusted filter options; the resulting inherited properties can disrupt logic or cause a service interruption.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
