Privilege escalation via RAKP session retargeting
Published Sep 15, 2026 · Updated Sep 15, 2026
Improper authorization in OpenBMC phosphor-net-ipmid allows remote authenticated users to escalate privileges through a crafted RAKP 1 request. RAKP 1 handling replaces an established session's user and privilege context with a target account but retains the session's original integrity and encryption keys. A user with an existing valid session and a known higher-privilege account name can issue commands with the target account's authority without re-authentication.
