Arbitrary file write via dangling symlink
Published Jul 18, 2026 · Updated Jul 18, 2026
Path validation in NEAR AI IronClaw 0.29.0 through 0.29.1 allows local users to write files outside the tool sandbox. validate_path treats a dangling final symlink as a nonexistent in-sandbox path, then write_file passes the unresolved path to tokio::fs::write, which follows the link. Exploitation requires control of the write_file path and content plus creation of the symlink; successful use can create or overwrite files accessible to the IronClaw process.
