Realm takeover via unchecked DCR claim paths
Published Aug 5, 2026 · Updated Aug 5, 2026
Privilege escalation in Red Hat Keycloak services allows remote authenticated users to forge realm roles through Dynamic Client Registration. The default DCR mapper policy validates the User Property mapper type but not its target claim path, so user properties can populate administrative resource_access roles. A standard account and limited Initial Access Token suffice to take over clients, read client secrets, alter security settings, and impersonate service accounts.
