Arbitrary file read via unchecked backup path
Published Jul 18, 2026 · Updated Jul 18, 2026
Path traversal in Halo 2.24.0 through 2.24.2 allows remote authenticated users to read arbitrary server files through the backup API. The MigrationServiceImpl.download() method passes attacker-controlled Backup.status.filename to Path.resolve() without ensuring the result remains under the backups directory. Administrator access is required to create a completed Backup resource and retrieve files readable by the Halo server process; no write or code-execution impact is reported.
