Authenticated file read via template type traversal
Published Jul 23, 2026 · Updated Jul 23, 2026
Path traversal in WCPOS – Point of Sale for WooCommerce 1.9.8 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to read server files. The templates REST controller resolves the type parameter as a path outside trusted template directories and returns that file when prepare_item_for_response() handles context=edit. Shop Manager-level access and context=edit are required; successful requests disclose file contents without changing data or interrupting service.
