Contributor-level content modification via object authorization bypass
Published Aug 2, 2026 · Updated Aug 2, 2026
Incorrect authorization in WPEvently before 5.3.7 allows remote authenticated users to alter arbitrary WordPress content. The mpwem_quick_edit_event AJAX handler checks only a global editing capability instead of verifying permission for the supplied post or page ID. Contributor-level access is sufficient to change titles and publication status for posts or pages the account does not own.
