Unauthenticated process abort via recursive deserialization
Published Jul 21, 2026 · Updated Jul 21, 2026
Uncontrolled recursion in AWS SDK for Rust before release-2026-06-02 allows remote attackers to abort a process through stack exhaustion. Generated JSON, CBOR, and XML deserializers recurse without a depth limit when decoding deeply nested data for a recursive model shape. A small unauthenticated request can reach an exposed generated SDK or server and terminate its process; confidentiality and integrity are unaffected.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
