Authenticated service interruption via unbounded image decoding
Published Sep 14, 2026 · Updated Sep 14, 2026
Denial of service in Mattermost Server allows remote authenticated users to exhaust server memory through crafted image uploads. The image-decoding path allocates memory for uploaded image data without enforcing a ceiling on the amount allocated. Any authenticated account that can upload a profile picture, file attachment, team icon, or brand image can consume excessive memory and interrupt service.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=10.11.0 <=10.11.22
- Affected versionversion=11.7.0 <=11.7.7
- Affected versionversion=11.8.0 <=11.8.4
- Affected versionversion=11.9.0 <=11.9.0
