Controller code execution via unanchored method validation
Published Feb 3, 2026 · Updated Feb 3, 2026
Configuration injection in Kubernetes ingress-nginx before 1.13.7 and 1.14.0 through 1.14.2 allows remote authenticated users to execute code. The auth-method annotation validator used an unanchored HTTP-method regex, so a value containing a valid method plus injected NGINX directives passed validation and entered generated configuration. Ingress creation privileges are required; successful exploitation runs in the controller context and exposes controller-readable Secrets, which span the cluster by default.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
