Authenticated code execution via Levenshtein integer wraparound
Published Aug 13, 2026 · Updated Aug 13, 2026
Integer wraparound in PostgreSQL fuzzystrmatch before 18.6, 17.11, 16.15, 15.19, and 14.24 allows remote authenticated users to execute code. Extreme cost inputs to levenshtein() or levenshtein_less_equal() wrap an integer calculation, causing writes across a huge range of process addresses. A valid database login and access to the trusted fuzzystrmatch extension are required, and successful exploitation runs code as the database service account.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
