Client crash via unchecked empty NamespaceArray response
Published Jul 14, 2026 · Updated Jul 14, 2026
Out-of-bounds read in open62541 1.5.0 through 1.5.5 allows remote attackers to crash OPC UA client applications. responseReadNamespacesArray dereferences results[0] when a successful NamespaceArray response has zero results but uses the non-null empty-array sentinel. Exploitation requires the client to connect to a malicious OPC UA server and complete session setup; demonstrated impact is process termination only.
