CVE-2026-15687Network attack vector

Arbitrary file creation via non-tar copyDirectoryFromPod

Published Jul 23, 2026 · Updated Jul 23, 2026

Path traversal in Kubernetes Java Client 10.0.0 through 25.0.0 and 26.0.0 allows attackers to create files outside the copy destination. The non-tar path in copyDirectoryFromPod writes pod-supplied file paths without constraining the resolved destination to the requested directory. Exploitation requires a client application to copy from a compromised pod with enableTarCompressing set to false, resulting in new files at attacker-selected client paths.
