Authenticated file upload via forced JSON typing
Published Feb 26, 2026 · Updated Feb 26, 2026
Arbitrary file upload in weDevs WP User Frontend 4.2.8 and earlier allows remote authenticated users with Author access to write server files. The WPUF_Admin_Settings::check_filetype_and_ext and Admin_Tools::check_filetype_and_ext callbacks replace WordPress file-type results with JSON metadata without validating the uploaded file. Author-level access is required; a server-executable upload grants code execution when the web server permits execution from its destination.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
