CVE-2026-15461

Device crash via offset-shifted GNSS parser state

Published Sep 10, 2026 · Updated Sep 10, 2026

Type confusion in Zephyr RTOS 4.4.0 through 4.4.1 allows physically proximate attackers to crash devices via spoofed GNSS input. HL78xx NMEA callbacks cast the device-data base as match_data even though affected builds place that structure at a nonzero offset, causing GSV parsing to write through a bogus satellite pointer. Reachability requires an HL78xx GNSS device with NMEA and satellite parsing active; the expected result is a crash, with adjacent-memory corruption possible on MMU-less targets.
