CVE-2026-15449

Kernel heap corruption via double copyin race

Published Jul 16, 2026 · Updated Jul 16, 2026

Heap-based buffer overflow in the dld driver in illumos-gate, OmniOS, and SmartOS allows local users to corrupt kernel memory. drv_ioc_prop_common() allocates from pr_valsize copied once, then recopies the mutable header and payload, so a concurrent size increase overruns the heap buffer. Access to /dev/dld is required; a local user, including one in a non-global zone that owns a datalink, can panic the host, while privilege escalation remains undocumented.
