Authenticated command execution via unsanitized lan_gateway
Published Jan 28, 2026 · Updated Jan 28, 2026
OS command injection in D-Link DIR-823X 250416 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary commands through set_mode. The sub_41E2A0 handler passes the lan_gateway value into a DHCP configuration shell command without neutralizing newline delimiters. Administrative credentials and network access to the management interface are required; successful exploitation runs commands in the router firmware context and can fully compromise the device.
