Pre-authentication kernel corruption via undersized SCTP parameters
Published Jul 16, 2026 · Updated Jul 16, 2026
Heap-based out-of-bounds write in illumos-gate before commit 53a3efde allows remote attackers to corrupt kernel memory via SCTP INIT ACK. The sctp_addrlist2sctp association lookup accepts IPv4 and IPv6 parameters without requiring the protocol-defined 8-byte and 20-byte lengths, then reads them as complete addresses. Classification precedes SCTP integrity and IPsec policy checks, so no association or authentication is required; kernel code execution is a downstream risk.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
